Dan Lloyd – About Me

About Me

After completing a Sports Degree, I worked as a Personal Fitness Instructor.  During this time, I began to develop knowledge in Complementary Medicine, learning Reiki and Spiritual Healing.

Using these as a foundation, I decided to specialise in Acupuncture, with its ancient roots back in the mists of time.

Studying for three years at The South West College of Oriental Medicine, and then in Beijing with the World Health Organisation at the University Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Peace Hospital.

My main style of learning has been in Traditional Chinese Medicine, though I have been greatly influenced by the Japanese technique that aims at a pain-free style of acupuncture, and more recently by Taoist Medicine.

I am always furthering my learning through schemes of Continuous Professional Development with the world-famous Acumedic in London, whose training is in collaboration with the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In 2013, I completed my training for my Reiki 3rd Degree under the tuition of Mike Durant at Somerset Skies.

In 2016, I started studying for a further 3 years Postgraduate Diploma course (part-time) with the Xiantian College of Daoist Medicine; here I have been refreshing my knowledge and growing my breadth of understanding of Ancient and Taoist Chinese Medicine.

Outside of my work and study – I love to spend time with my wife Liz and our Son and Daughter who are both at University. I also enjoy running, outdoor swimming, camping, walking, gardening, travelling, nature, Dungeons & Dragons, volunteering, and being at home in Winscombe.
